Wendy Peterson
Board President
Wendy has worked in the field of aging policy and services for over 20 years, after leaving the computer industry where she managed technology development start-ups. Ms. Peterson served as Marketing / Development Director for Center for Elders Independence, a Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly in Oakland, California. She served as Interim Project Director for LifeLong Medical Care’s East Bay Benefits Initiative, helping to prepare that community health center for the launch of Medicare’s Prescription Drug Benefit. Ms. Peterson has directed the Senior Services Coalition since 2002. She has been honored for her work by State Senator Loni Hancock and by the Alameda County Board of Supervisors, and is the recipient of the 2010 Kenneth Hoh Award for Advocacy from Family Bridges.

Aaron McPherson
Vice President
Aaron is currently the Vice President of Integrated Services at the Institute On Aging, (IOA), in San Francisco. Prior to his work at IOA, Mr. McPherson served as the Vice President of Operations for Center for Elders’ Independence in Oakland. He has a background in geriatric physical therapy and rehabilitation services management, nursing home administration, and Operations in the non-profit sector. His passion is serving the community as they age with a focus on rural health and using technology to bridge gaps in the care model. Aaron was drawn to DayBreak’s Board by the ability to serve an organization that effectively brings together the pieces needed to improve the lives of our frail elderly in the East Bay.

Benjamin Bloom
Secretary
Benjamin is the President of Homewatch CareGivers of Oakland. He has been serving the elderly and disabled for over 19 years professionally and philanthropically. Benjamin is a Certified Senior Advisor and a specialist in Long-Term Care planning. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Bay Area Jewish Healing Center and the Planning Committee for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s in San Francisco. Benjamin has many years of experience in finance, business management, sales and marketing, and earned his BA and MBA from UC Davis.

Evan Gibson
Treasurer
Evan has over 15 years of experience in business development, strategy, marketing and finance in the life sciences industry and is motivated by finding ways to better serve those that rely on the healthcare system the most. He currently serves on the executive team at a newly formed biotechnology company focused on developing medicines for CNS disorders and was previously Head of Corporate Development at Vir Biotechnology. Evan holds a B.A. in Economics from Yale University. In addition, he earned an M.B.A. in Healthcare Management from The Wharton School and a Master of Biotechnology from the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at the University of Pennsylvania.

Kathryn E. Stambaugh
Board Member
Kathryn is a skilled administrator with over 20 years of experience in non-profit management. As Geriatric Services Director at LifeLong Medical Care, she is responsible for strategic planning and implementation of projects that support the health and well-being of older adults, including oversight of LifeLong’s Care at Home program. She has developed and supervised supportive behavioral health services for low-income seniors, coordinated practice transformation efforts in preparation for value-based contracting, developed a new Adult Day Health Center (ADHC) and Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE), and lead efforts to become an Age Friendly Health System. Kathryn is a recipient of the California Association for Adult Day Services Quality Leadership Award and the UC Berkeley “Spirit of Public Health” award, and she holds master’s degrees in business and public health from UC Berkeley and a BA in history from the University of Virginia.

Catherine Johnson
Board Member
Catherine is a national human resources leader who brings a deep knowledge of the human resources industry and 20 years of executive leadership experience to Travis Credit Union. She brings a wealth of human resources and strategic planning expertise and company results to Travis Credit Union, including organization design and development, performance management, talent management, strategic business, and HR planning.
